Mounting of your engine is included in the chassis price *

The Chassis
The design for the KR3 is significantly different than the KR2 with more side and front impact protection. The buggy chassis is made in 3 parts; a nose crumple zone, the driver cage and the rear engine bay. Due to the multi engines available the KR3 has being designed with an intergrated driver and passanger ptotection approved by the SVA.

The roll cage is made from 42mm diameter 4mm thick HDS Tube (like CDS tube but heat treated to remove stress) that is lightweight and very strong. The base section is constructed from 40 x 40 x 2.5mm box section forming a very strong chassis base. The engine sub frame complete with axels bolts directly onto the main chassis, offering a removable engine bay.

The buggy also has a steel front bulkhead to mount the pedal box and brake servo and gives protection to the front mounted radiator. A rear firewall is fitted with horizontal tubular cross member for added driver safety and protection.

The floor is made from aluminium checker plate and is stepped to raise the driving position, allowing large seats to be fitted with adjusting runners if required.

Engine options
The standard Fiat Seicento comes with a 900cc or 1100cc engine. The 900cc engine offers very low road tax and insurance with excellent MPG. The KR3 is also designed to take virtually any engine like the KR2 including bike engines that will fit into the removable rear sub frame making engine change and modification simple.

Other engines available for the KR3 include the popular Rover K-Series, including the 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 VVC engine. The 1.8 litre VVC engine is capable of over 150mph, and insurance from as little as £150 fully comprehensive makes this one little buggy people will think twice about when it passes them on the road.

We can now fit any engine, just bring your engine to us (or we will arrange collection) and we will fit it into the chassis.

Current engine sub frames available for KR3:

  • Fiat Seicento 900cc

  • Fiat Seicento Sporting 1100cc

  • Fiat Cinquecento 900cc (early model)

  • Rover K-Series 1400cc (single point injection)

  • Rover K-Series 1800cc (multi point injection)

  • We are now building subframes to fit any engine, you just supply the engine and we will take care of fitting and mounting.

    Fequently asked questions

Is the price shown at the top of the webpage the complete price of the KR3 buggy?
No, the price at the top of the website page is for the HFS Tubular chassis only with engine bay. To this chassis you will need a donor car and one of the build kits depending on your level of build experience.

Can I buy the buggy already built and read for the road ?
Yes, Blitzworld are currently build the KR3 to order with all types of engines from 900cc Fiat to 2000cc Ford etc, please contact us for prices and details.

Can you fit a bike engine ?
Yes, due to the configuration of the KR3 chassis it lends its self well to take any engine including a motor bike engine. This can be done by the interchangeable multi engine sub frame supplied with the chassis.

Is the KR3 buggy road legal ?
Yes the KR3 buggy is road legal, but you have to hold a current car driving licence to drive it on the public highways including motorways.

Where can I get a donor car from ?
We have put a list of suppliers on the website where you can find a donor car from as little as £150. (click on the donor cars link on the left hand menu for a list).

Do you have to have a licence to drive the buggy off road ?
No, for off road use you do not have to have a licence. If you want to drive on green lanes around the country you do have to have a licence and the buggy needs to be road legal.

How safe is the buggy on & off road ?
Due to the wide selection of engines available for the KR3 buggy we have made the KR3 from a very high grade of steel, which is 42mm diameter 4mm thick Hot Formed Seamless tube (HFS), which has being annealed to remove all internal stresses making the chassis roll cage very strong. The buggy design offers the driver and passenger a complete roll cage with a front and rear crumple zones. Also driver air bag options are available.

Does the buggy have to go through SVA ?
Yes, the buggy has to go through the government approved SVA (single vehicle approval) testing which affects most kit cars on the road today. The test costs about £170 and once passed the vehicle does not require a MOT for 3 years.

Can I build some of the buggy myself and Blitzworld to complete the build ?
Yes, you can take the build to any stage and we can complete the remainder of the buggy build to Off or road legal status if as required, helping to keep costs to a minimum.

Do you have to put the buggy on a trailer to take it to a track day?
No, due to the light weight of the buggy, we can supply a tow hitch that bolts under the front of the buggy lifting the front wheels off the ground, and then the buggy can be towed like a trailer. If you register your buggy as road legal you can then drive the buggy to and from the track day events.
