Due to the development of the new Vigilante buggy we also offer the original Joyrider Sport buggy for On and Off road use. The factory built Joyrider Sport buggy is fitted with the popular Saxo VTS 1.6 16V engine. This engine has proved to be very good with its 120bhp as standard, and the gearbox also can be fitted with a limited slip diff if required.

Over the last several years we have constantly developed from the KR2 - KR3 to the Joyrider, making a high performance, high specification off road buggy. The Joyrider has being put through its paces on land rover 4x4, and Moto Cross tracks around the country, that have helped to develop the ruggedness of the buggy. As the buggy is made from standard car parts, parts and are readily available all over the world, as we use standard discs, pads, tyres etc.

All the Saxo Joyrider buggies are fitted from used / damaged Saxo VTS cars, where the engines that have being serviced by Blitzworld, with timing belt, plugs, oil etc replaced. We no longer use the existing ECU's, as we now completely remake the wiring loom including the engine management system, for ease of installation and maintenance.

The Joyrider buggy comes complete ready to drive away including 12" alloy wheels with Block tread off road tyres, bucket seats, 5 point safety harness, aluminium radiator, aluminium expansion tank and aluminium fuel tank as standard.

Performance

The Joyrider can be built with any engine, but we recomend a car engine over a bike engine as it is more powerfull (more torque), cheaper to run, cheaper to fit (no complex gearboxes), and faster. The chart below gives some typical performance figures of a R1 bike against the standard Saxo VTS car engine. The bike final bhp is low due to the vehicle has doubled in weight from the initial weight, as the car weight has halved, thus doubling the performance and reliability.

Chassis

The chassis is made from 42mm diameter CDS tube (other specifications are available), with mig welded construction. The chassis is IVA approved and has both front and rear crumple zones with side impact bars. The front footwell is metal with a front metal fairing bonnet.

Handling

The Joyrider is fitted with trailing arm suspension (like a Moto Cross bike) this gives over 12" of rear travel on the rear wheels. The front wheels use a Coil over Mc Pherson Strut, offering a very tight turning circle.

The buggy is fitted with a hanging pedal box with twin pot brake cylinders for front and rear brake bias set up
